Carb SourceCooked white sweet potato (gentle on GI, low oxalate – safe against cystine stones)
Protein SourceLean ground turkey (low purine, highly digestible, low histamine – BOAS/allergy friendly)
Fat/OilCold-pressed hemp seed oil (anti-inflammatory, supports brain & coat, balanced omega-3:6)
VegetablesFinely steamed zucchini and pureed pumpkin (fiber for colitis, hydration, low stone risk)
Natural SupplementsGreen-lipped mussel powder (joint/IVDD protection), spirulina (immune/anti-inflammatory), freeze-dried raw goat’s milk (probiotics for GI health)

Step-by-Step Preparation Directions

Ingredients:

  • 500g (1.1 lbs) lean ground turkey (93/7)
  • 300g (1.5 cups) white sweet potato, peeled and diced
  • 150g (1 cup) zucchini, finely diced
  • 100g (½ cup) plain pumpkin puree (no additives)
  • 2 tbsp cold-pressed hemp seed oil
  • 1 tsp green-lipped mussel powder (Get Green-Lipped Mussel Powder on Amazon)
  • ½ tsp spirulina powder
  • 2 tbsp raw goat’s milk (freeze-dried reconstituted or fresh)

Step-by-step:

  1. Cook sweet potato: Steam or boil until fork-tender (15 min). Mash lightly.
  2. Cook turkey: In a nonstick pan over medium heat, cook ground turkey until no pink remains. Drain no fat unless excessive – turkey 93/7 leaves healthy fat.
  3. Steam zucchini: Steam until soft but not mushy (5 min).
  4. Combine: In a large bowl, mix cooked turkey, mashed sweet potato, steamed zucchini, and pumpkin puree.
  5. Add oils & supplements: Stir in hemp seed oil, green-lipped mussel powder, and spirulina until evenly distributed.
  6. Cool to room temp (never serve warm to a brachycephalic puppy – steam worsens BOAS).
  7. Add goat’s milk last: Stir in just before portioning (preserves probiotics).

Nutritionist Safety Note

  • Therapeutic break: This recipe includes green-lipped mussel and spirulina as preventative support for IVDD, immunity, and inflammation. No break needed unless your puppy develops a shellfish or algae sensitivity.
  • Calorie note: This batch is 2100 kcal total. Do not feed the whole batch in one day. Use the feeding guide below.
  • Brachycephalic caution: Always soak kibble or wet food if mixing. Serve food flat in a shallow, wide bowl to reduce air swallowing and regurgitation.
  • Stone prevention: Avoid high-purine proteins (lamb, organ meats) and excess oxalates (spinach, nuts). This recipe is cystine-stone friendly.
